We are two (two artists, two players, two photographers, two grown-up kids? We don’t know for sure what definition suits us best…). We are Mikel and Edel and we started playing long time ago. Of course, one would take for granted that children love to play, but it was different in our case. Playing was our life and we can just say it still is. Playing sends us back to our childhood and when we do what you are about to see, it keeps alive the memories of our toy adventures back in the old days.

When photographing our dolls, we play with scales and make it possible that the characters in our own toy world become part of reality, or… is it maybe the other way around? Are we actually enabling the reality to become part of our private toy world (a better, shinier, happier one)?

Either way, all those toys, figures, dolls and any little creature that we find attractive become part of our mini world and we portrait them along our trips, or during our daily life, in any situation that we find interesting for some reason.

Little by little and for some years now, our work has grown, and it has been displayed and sold in different exhibitions, galleries and events in cities like Madrid, Seville and Barcelona.

Our projects have also been published in magazines such as Vogue (Spain & Australia editions), H magazine, Etapes, and also in the books "Barbie 50th anniversary" and “Barbie 60th anniversary”, both edited by Assouline.

Until now, exhibitions and social media (Instagram) were the only ways we were sharing our work. However, the current situation, the world as we know it being at stake, has led us to try to bring some joy and warmth to your home, or to whomever you want to feel surprised and loved, in the mist of all this.

Somos dos (¿dos artistas, dos a quienes les gusta jugar, dos fotógrafos, dos niños que han crecido? Ni siquiera nosotros sabemos qué definición se nos ajusta mejor). Somos Mikel y Edel y empezamos a jugar hace ya mucho tiempo. Por supuesto, se da por hecho que a los niños les encanta jugar, pero en nuestro caso fue diferente. Jugar era nuestra vida y podemos afirmar que lo sigue siendo. Jugar nos lleva de vuelta a nuestra infancia y cuando hacemos lo que estás a punto de descubrir, mantenemos vivos los recuerdos de nuestras viejas aventuras.

Cuando fotografiamos nuestras muñecas, jugamos con la escala y hacemos posible que los personajes de nuestro propio mundo del juego se conviertan en parte de la realidad o, ¿es acaso al revés? ¿estamos consiguiendo que la realidad forme parte de nuestro mundo de juegos privado (uno mejor, con más luz, más feliz)?

En cualquier caso, todos esos juguetes, figuras, muñecas y cualquier pequeña criatura que nos resulte atractiva pasan a formar parte de nuestro universo en miniatura y las retratamos a lo largo de nuestros viajes o durante nuestra vida diaria, en cualquier situación que nos parezca interesante.

En los últimos años poco a poco nuestro trabajo ha ido evolucionando y ha sido expuesto y vendido en diferentes exposiciones, galerías y eventos en ciudades como Madrid, Sevilla y Barcelona.

Nuestros proyectos también han sido publicados en revistas comoVogue (ediciones de España y Australia), H magazine, Etapes, y también en los libros "Barbie 50 Aniversario" y “Barbie 60 Aniversario”, ambos editados por Assouline.

Hasta la fecha, las exposiciones y las redes sociales (Instagram) era la única forma de acercarse a nuestro trabajo. Sin embargo, la situación actual -el ver cómo el mundo tal y como lo conocemos está en el aire- ha hecho que nos planteemos intentar llevar algo de alegría y calidez a tu hogar, o al de quien sea que quieras sorprender y hacer sentirse querido, en medio de esta niebla e incertidumbre.
